Millard “Doc” Bosworth

"Doc" Bosworth spent many hours teaching me how to take and develop photographs. Besides teaching the art of photography, he was an excellent science teacher, particularly in chemistry and physics which were a great help in my studies at Tufts.

Agnes C. Black '41, Warren Chivers, Ed "Beano" Tripp, and all faculty when I was a student attending VA. Angus Black '41 and Warren Chivers gave me wisdom and understanding- my second parents for four years.

Arnie Castagner

Mr. Castagner could be described as the mouse that roared or the bark that is worse than the bite. He was a relatively small individual, a bundle of energy who kept everyone in line, but you always knew he cared deeply.

When I think of Vermont Academy, I think mostly of Doc Hewitt. It was in his class room and lab that he taught his students more than just chemistry.

Franklin Geist

I'll have to say Franklin Geist made a huge difference in my life. I was (well, still am) not very good at math. I really, really wanted to drop the Algebra II / Trigonometry class I was taking as I wasn't doing very well in it. When I asked him, he looked at me and then disappeared down the hallway.

Grant V. Frazer

“Sean, it’s good, but it could be better.”

I heard that phrase so many times sitting in Mr. Frazer’s small office in the corner of Fuller Hall; his soft but clear and almost musical voice still echoes in my head. I knew what it meant.

Hovey Coles

During storm Irene wherever I went to help (Grafton, Bartonville, etc) there were VA students. The teachers that made the biggest difference was Hovey Coles. Through all my ups and downs and immature actions, Mr. Coles instructed through his actions. I am to this day in gratitude to his kindness.
